Frequently Asked Questions About Lake House:

  • What is your refund policy?   If for any reason you must cancel your reservation and I am able to rent the same period to another party (and I will work very hard trying to find new renters), all fees paid (or, if less, whatever the second party pays) will be refunded less $75.We also work with you to, say, find different dates you could come, so your payments aren't lost.  If you are concerned about having to cancel this reservation, you might consider looking into travelers insurance.
  • How do we get our security deposit back?  The security deposit will be returned on my check within fourteen days of your departure provided no damage is done, no excess cleaning is required, you follow instructions for preparing the house for check-out, you observe the 10:00 AM check-out time, and you sort your trash and recyclables as indicated on the green sheets posted on the refrigerator and inside the trash room.
  • Do we have to bring our own sheets and towels?   We provide all the bedding, and make all the beds before your arrival, but ask you to bring your own bath towels, beach towels, wash cloths, and bathmats and dish towels.  Some spare towels and other items are available in the downstairs linen closet for your use if needed, too.
  • How do we get the key on arrival day?   You simply arrive at the house, which will be open or the key under the mat.  You'll be able to, go right in, and find several keys to the house hanging on hooks under the kitchen counter.
  • How many cars can we park at the property?  Five cars can easily be parked there, with two in the garage and three in the driveway.  There could even be four in the driveway.
  • Is there WiFi in the house?  Yes, it is a Spectrum product, both wired and wireless.   If so, what is the password?  That is given in the notes to guests are under a magnet on the refrigerator.
  • Is there a crockpot available?  No, sorry, but you are welcome to bring your own.
  • Is there a sandy beach?   No.  The water at the edge of the lake is 18 to 24 inches deep for small children to enjoy, and there is a sandbox for them to play in.
  • Is there swimming at the property?  There is wonderful swimming in the cool, clear lake water.  Depths go from 2 feet to 8 off the dock where diving is safe.  A ladder is near the deep water for climbing back onto the dock.
  • Is the bottom sandy or rocky?  It is mostly sandy with some largish rocks here and there.
  • Can we dock our boat(s) at the property?  Boats up to the 23 feet in length will fit well at the dock.  There is one covered slip, where the boat is well protected, as well as space parallel to the land, which is less protected, but where a pontoon boat of  23 feet in length will fit.
  • Can we rent a boat nearby?  Yes, Yankee Boating Center is one mile south (see www.yankeeboat.com).  Chic's Marina is three miles north.
  • Do you take dogs? Cats?  Dogs if you can assure me they won't bark a lot and bother my good neighbors; cats, if you bring your own litter box.
  • Will we be sharing the boat house, docks, or driveway with anyone else?  Absolutely no one else will be using the property for any purpose.  The place is solely yours for your time there.
  • Is there a view of the lake from the house?  There is an obscured view.  The trees are a very important part of what keeps Lake George clean, so I leave standing as many as I can without completely blocking the view.  The magnificent lake and mountain views are to be enjoyed at the waterfront.
  • We have a very large group. May we rent both of your houses for our vacation?  No, sorry.  That doesn't work.  You would want to gather at the waterfront, I'm sure, but because the capacity of the septic system it is illegal for me to have more than ten people at the property at any time.
  • Would you rent the house for a one-month stay?  No, sorry.  The longest period a group may rent is two weeks.
  • Will the snow be cleared from the driveway?  Yes, a very responsible plow guy will come plow the driveway as soon as the snow stops, or at intervals before it stops if necessary.  The walks and a narrow strip in front of the garage are up to us to shovel.
