Frequently Asked Questions About Woodland House

  • What is your refund policy?   If for any reason you must cancel your reservation and I am able to rent the same period to another party (and I will work very hard trying to find new renters), all fees paid (or, if less, whatever the second party pays) will be refunded less $75.  If you are concerned about having to cancel this reservation and not having your week be rented again, you might want to look into travelers insurance.
  • How do we get our security deposit back?  The security deposit will be returned on my check within fourteen days of your departure provided no damage is done, no excess cleaning is required, you follow instructions for preparing the house for check-out, you observe the 10:00 AM check-out time, and you sort your trash and recyclables as instructed.
  • Do we have to bring our own sheets and towels?   We provide all the bedding and make up all the beds before your arrival, but we ask you to bring your own beach and bath towels, wash cloths, bath mats and dish towels..  A few spares are left in the closets for your use if needed.
  • How do we get the key on arrival day?   You simply arrive at the house, which will be open, go right in, and find several keys on the shelf in from of the kitchen sink.
  • How many cars can we park at the property?  Five cars can easily be parked there.  There is a Y at the end of the driveway, a space beside the driveway, and space for two more behind the one nearest the house.
  • Is there WiFi in the house?  Yes, it is a Spectrum product, both wired and wireless.   If so, what is the password?  That information will be given in the notes for guests and under a magnet on the refrigerator.
  • Is there a crockpot available?  No, sorry, but you are welcome to bring your own.
  • Is there a grill for outdoor cooking?  Yes, a three-burner Weber gas grill is available on the patio behind the house with an extra tank of propane under the house in case the one in use runs out.
  • Is there a place to have a campfire?  A large and heavy portable fire pit is stored under the house for you to move out and use.  We ask that you discuss its use with the owner ahead of time about keeping the fire safe and putting it out.
  • Where do we find the beaches?  There are two nice ones in Bolton Landing 4 miles north of the house, one just as you enter the town, the other at the far end of the town.  The only cost is the $5 parking fee.  Rogers Rock Beach is 25 minutes north of the house and Million Dollar Beach in Lake George Village 6 miles south.
  • Can we rent a boat nearby?  Yankee Boating Center is just a mile south.  See www.yankeeboat.com
  • Do you take dogs? Cats?  Yes.  The fee for a dog is $50 for a weekend or $85 for a week.  Cats would be $15 for a weekend or $25 for a week, and we ask that you provide a covered litter box.
  • Is there a view of the lake from the house?  No.  The private hiking trail out back, however, leads you to wonderful lake views.
  • Would you rent the house for a one-month stay?  No, sorry, not for more than two weeks.
  • Will the snow be cleared from the driveway?  Yes, a very responsible plow guy will come plow the driveway as soon as the snow stops, or at intervals before it stops if necessary.  The walks are up to us to shovel.
